Dr. B Felmingham: is an economist and experienced researcher, as evidenced by his sixty plus, fully refereed publications in economics, finance and administration journals. This includes refereed books, journal articles included in the Journal of Economic Literature, book chapters and conference proceedings. Dr. Felmingham is an experienced manager of research grants having received $600,000+ in research grant funding from organizations as diverse as the ARGC, ARC, Research Bank of Australia, Bureau of Labour Market Research and Bureau of Immigration and Population Research. The majority of these publications/grants apply to studies of the integration of the international economy with a logical emphasis on the strength of Australia’s interdependence. This emphasis has involved analyses on international trade, international finance, domestic monetary policy, immigration and labour mobility.
Bruce Felmingham taught at the University Of Tasmania School Of Economics for 35 years with sojourns spent at Southampton University (UK) and Simon Fraser University (Canada) He was awarded a Teaching Merit Certificate by the University of Tasmania in recognition of this contribution in 2001. Included among those students who graduated with first class honours in Economics were 5 he supervised who later were awarded the Rhodes Scholarship (Tasmania).

Bruce Felmingham has contributed to public debate in both Tasmania and Australia on matters pertaining largely to the Australian regions, in particular, Tasmania.
His commentaries appear in all forms of media, the Internet, TV and radio. Since October 1993 Dr. Felmingham has written a fortnightly column in the Sunday Tasmanian on public affairs with an economic or financial emphasis.
Bruce Felminghams’ community service includes his time as a Rotarian in the period 1980-89 and his time as President of The Rotary Club of Hobart in 1989. Dr. Felmingham also has a long history of involvement in sporting organizations. He is a founding member, past president and Hall of Fame member of one of Australia’s oldest Australian Rules Football Club. He is a founding member of the Eastern Suburbs/ OHA Amateur Athletics Club and participated in both the Athletics and Australian Football for these organizations.
Dr. Felminghams’ abiding passion is for the social well being of disabled persons. He is currently the Tasmanian State Director of Crossroads an organization which provides social interaction between the able-bodied and disabled persons. For many disabled, Crossroads represents one of the few opportunities to escape the limitations of a homebound or institutionalized existence.
